Job Summary:
We are seeking an Automotive Photometry Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team within the Exterior Lighting group. In this role, you will be responsible for measuring the performance of vehicle lighting components, both in lab and vehicle environments, and delivering high-quality test reports. You will also maintain the calibration and functionality of photometric testing equipment and facilities, including the Dark Room and Light Tunnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and acknowledge measurement requests.
- Verify customer requirements and measurement specifications.
- Manage measurement task prioritization and time planning.
Component Measurement (30%)
- Conduct photometric measurements of exterior and interior lighting components in lab and vehicle setups.
Data Analysis & Reporting (40%)
- Analyze test results and compile detailed, accurate measurement reports.
- Support internal teams and suppliers in interpreting and utilizing measurement data.
Equipment Calibration (10%)
- Plan and maintain equipment calibration and upkeep.
- Maintain auditable calibration records.
Process & Facility Improvements (10%)
- Ensure validation activities align with VW and Bentley specifications.
- Maintain and enhance the Dark Room facility.
- Monitor and drive continuous improvement in measurement processes and test environments.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in photometric and optical measurement of automotive lighting components.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Goniometers
- Spectrometers
- Imaging colorimeters
- Strong understanding of automotive lighting components including:
- Headlamps, tail lamps, interior lights, ambient lighting, displays, and switch packs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical circuit diagrams.
- Experience with CAN and LIN vehicle communication networks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience collaborating in a CAD-based design environment is desirable.
Qualifications:
- Minimum HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
