Powerpack Function Layer Engineer - Gaydon
The Opportunity
Help shape the next generation of electrified vehicles by developing and owning the systems
engineering artefacts for our High Voltage (HV) Power Supply & Charging domains. You’ll turn
complex behaviour into clear models, requirements and test plans, link functional analyses to
component-level risk controls, and drive timely resolution of cross-domain issues across Battery,
Charging, HV Integration and EDU.
What you’ll do
• Own system artefacts for HV Power Supply & Charging: MBSE models, use-case analysis,
Logical Architecture Description (LAD), Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), requirements
(FSRD/FSRS) and DVP. Maintain off-cycle and update on-cycle in line with programme needs.
• Define and govern requirements: capture, cascade and trace requirements from stakeholder
needs through to verification, ensuring consistency across models, standards and DVP.
• Link function to component risk: connect FFA outputs to commodity FMEAs and feed
target-setting for relevant use cases.
• Drive interface integrity: chair technical reviews and resolve cross-functional issues spanning
Battery, Charging, HV Integration, EDU and Powerpack teams.
• Influence architecture: provide data-driven inputs to electrical architecture choices to protect
attribute delivery (range, charge time, performance).
• Champion methods & tools: ensure functions adhere to agreed engineering methods, computer
tools and aids throughout delivery.
How your impact will be measured (KPIs)
• System artefacts delivered off-cycle and updated on-cycle for HV Power Supply & Charging.
• New HV functions delivered via the SoC process to plan.
• Robust, on-cycle requirements and targets provided to programmes.
• System compatibility issues identified early, reported clearly and closed efficiently.
• Evidence of informed influence on electrical architecture decisions.
• Adherence to specified engineering methods and toolchains.
Key interactions
• Powerpack Function Layer Manager; Powerpack Engineers, Managers & Product Owners
• HV PSS / Battery / Charging / EDU Managers and Engineers
• Powerpack CAE Engineers & Manager
• Commodity and Control System Engineers/LL6s
What you’ll bring (Essential)
• Experience in a Systems Engineering environment, ideally automotive.
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electronics/Electrical) or equivalent technical
qualifications/experience.
• Relevant experience in HV Power Supply Systems (Battery, Charging; BMCM/BMS preferred).
• Practical experience specifying/designing LV, HV and control hardware, including protection
concepts.
• Proven capability in system definition, architecture development, requirements specification,
design/performance modelling, systems integration, assessment and acceptance.
• Structured problem-solving skills applied to complex technical issues.
• Awareness of typical BEV/MHEV/PHEV system solutions and technologies
