Summary of Role
To effectively lead, manage and control single or multiple projects to PDSL customers and client’s expectations, meeting all goals of timing, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction. Responsibility for the early identification, communication of possible issues and weaknesses and recommend possible solutions to resolve them. The successful candidate will report into the Project Manager
Ideally candidate with a minimum 5 -10 years working experience in the automotive industry at OEM or Tier 1 suppliers. The candidate will have worked in the lighting industry, with a full understanding of the optical, mechanical, electrical and thermal aspects of product development.
Key Responsibilities:

Ownership/reporting project status, budget, and milestones to company directors

Ensure that all projects are managed in accordance with company policies and procedures
-
Clearly communicate issues to the project team and plan resources accordingly.

To develop and maintain a good working relationship with the team, customer, and suppliers.
-
To lead meetings and organise visits with team, customers and suppliers as required
-
Control and delivery of budgets for prototypes, development, tooling, and production expenditure.
-
Create and maintain timing plans, highlighting concern areas.
-
Organise, chair and minute project meetings with the project team as appropriate
-
Responsible for preparation of commercial aspects, especially engineering changes and traceability of these through the project

Delivering and managing customer expectations

Review, understand and convert functional requirements into valid technical specifications & documents

Critical path analysis and roadblock management – handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

Identifying business development opportunities and supporting quoting activities

Experience Required:
-
Good understanding of mechanical, electronic, harness component design, assembly, and processes
-
Experience in the Automotive sector
-
10+ years of relevant project management experience.
-
Experience of operating in an ISO 9001:2015 & IATF 16949 environment and leading audit activities for project responsible elements.

Experience of delivering projects from initial concept product development through to production via APQP process and ability to lead DFMEA, PFMEA and PPAP activities.
-
Good understanding of mechanical, electronic, harness component design, assembly, and processes
-
Full appreciation of the plastic injection moulding process.
-
Travel will be required on occasions to support customer and supplier meetings.

Full clean UK driving licence and valid passport
Additional Experience/Qualifications Preferred:
-
Experience in automotive lighting would be preferable.

An understanding of ECE & SAE lighting regulations.
-
DVP testing, photometry, and homologation process experience.
-
CAD Literacy: ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools.

PRINCE 2 or similar Project Management Qualification, or willingness to work towards.

Lean or Six Sigma Green/Black belt qualification or willingness to work towards

Launch experience and/or manufacturing experience would be beneficial
Education:
