Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing company specialising in heat transfer solutions and energy reduction. They serve a global client base and are headquartered in Alcester, Warwickshire. Innovation is our client's driving force, and they are seeking a Full-time permanent Research Technician to join their dynamic and friendly lab-based team.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will play a pivotal role as a Research Technician, contributing to a Research & Design Team in a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including designing and testing new products, operating machinery for manufacturing, performing test runs, and maintaining equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Involvement in the design and testing of new products.
- Operating machinery to manufacture varied test samples for clients and internal review.
- Performing test runs, including recording measurements and adjusting process conditions to agreed test parameters.
- Designing, assembling, modifying, and maintaining experimental equipment.
- Managing equipment inventory, operation manuals, and running procedures for different test facilities.
- Ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Ordering materials, consumables, and coordinating with suppliers.
- Occasional overseas travel to supervise installations (typically lasting less than a week).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency in designing and assembling in-house flow test equipment, including pumps and pipe work, with knowledge of fits and tolerances.
- Basic soldering, non-specialist welding, and plumbing skills.
- Experience configuring and installing various control and measurement sensors, including data acquisition connections.
- Intermediate computer software knowledge, including Microsoft Office and simple CAD software.
- Familiarity with mechanical tools like lathes and pedestal drills for basic operations.
- Ability to design, specify, and draw custom mechanical parts.
